Dua and Supplications: Recommended Prayers and Supplications during Various Stages of Umrah

Umrah is a spiritual journey and close to the heart of every Muslim. From all around the world, Muslims visit Makkah to perform Umrah. What are the recommended duas for Umrah?

Dua before starting the journey:
Whenever going out, or starting any journey, you must start with the name and remembrance of Allah and putting our trust upon him.
The suggested dua is:
Bismillah, tawwakal tu alallah wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
‘In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power or strength except with Allah.’
The dua makes you ready for the journey and builds trust and intention.
Dua during Travel:

Dua upon arrival in Makkah:

The dua is:
A’udhu bikalimatillahi-t-tammati min sharri maa khalaq
‘I seek refuge in Allah’s perfect words from the evil of what He has created.’
This protection dua is recited generally by everyone, and upon entering Makkah, you can silently recite it.
Making Niyyah and Ihram:
Among recommended duas for Umrah during pilgrimage one more important point is included which is the intention.
Niyyah also known as intention which is made in heart for Umrah, silently and solely to please Allah (SWT). You can also say it aloud, but it is better to do it quietly.
You can use these words to make niyyah:
‘O Allah, It is my intention to perform Umrah to please you. Please make it easy for me and also except it.
Talbiyah:
Everyone mostly knows what Talbiyah is, when you enter Ihram, it is very important to say it. You have to say it repeatedly. This is Talbiyah:
Labbaik, Allahumma labbaik. Labbaik, la shareeka laka labbaik. Innal hamda, wan-ni’mata, laka walmulk, la shareeka lak.”
Translation:
“Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, there is no partner for you, and here I am. Verily, all praise, blessings, and dominion are yours there is no partner for you.”
It is the most highlighted verbal deed of Umrah, it should be recited repeatedly till you begin the Tawaf. After entering the Ihram, pilgrims start staying this until they reach Makkah and begin Tawaf.

Dua upon entering the sacred mosque:
When you enter the mosque in Makkah, Masjid ul Haram, it is recommended to say the dua of entering the masjid.
Moreover, you must seek Allah’s forgiveness and mercy while entering the sacred mosque.

Dua upon laying first sight on Kabah:
